Loch Ness Kitchen Sightings Are About To Skyrocket Thanks To This Ladle

For those who like their kitchen to look like something Willy Wonka might cook in, here's another adorable alternative to the boring spoon you've been using to serve soups and sauces. Designed by OTOTO to look eerily reminiscent of what we assume the Loch Ness monster looks like, this adorable Nessie Ladle is far less intimidating.

Loch Ness Kitchen Sightings Are About To Skyrocket Thanks To This Ladle

Available for just $15 beginning next month, Nessie's cute design is also functional, with the creature's set of stubby legs allowing the ladle to stand on its own without toppling over. And it might finally bring some delicious closure to that infamous mysterious black and white photo of the creature taken decades ago. [Animi Causa]

OS X Beats Windows and Linux in One Unexpected Area – Retro Gaming

It’s all next-gen these days. Next-gen graphics and controllers, next-gen screens, next-gen distribution platforms... DLC?! The days of hardcore gaming are, unfortunately, behind us. For those who’ve witnessed the evolution of console games first-hand - and I’m talking Tetris to Destiny - what’s happening right now is a joke. Everything is a remake, we’re all over the place with the storylines, the graphics are so good that we’re missing the subtext, DLC is fragmenting the experience worse th...

PolarSSL Library Vulnerable to Remote Code Execution

The possibility of remote code execution (RCE) exists in certain versions of the open-source SSL library PolarSSL due to a vulnerability that can be triggered during a certificate parsing process. Upon parsing an ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One) sequence of variables, a pointer fails to be initialized and should an error occur, under certain circumstances the pointer passes to polarssl_free(). According to an advisory from PolarSSL, this type of situation is possible when a certificate i...

Samsung Portable SSD T1: Super Fast, Super Pricey

Samsung Electronics is turning heads with its new solid state drive (SSD). The Portable SSD T1 aims to set the bar for the modern digital consumer. Samsung is billing the SSD T1 as ideal for three target audiences: business travelers, creative professionals and content creators that need secure local storage they can take anywhere they go and tap to transfer large amounts of data.

The portable SSD is certainly stylish and packs plenty of power. ItEUs available in 250 GB, 500GB and 1 terabyte (TB) storage capacities and rolls out in the United States as well as 14 countries across the European and Asian markets in late January.

"Our digital lives demand storage that surpasses the limits of existing options, which require consumers to compromise when it comes to mobility, capacity, security or performance,EU said Unsoo Kim, senior vice president of Branded Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics. EUThe Portable SSD T1 overcomes the drawbacks of alternative options on every major pain point, making it the next external storage device of choice."

Does it really? Samsung is meeting with positive reviews on the SSD T1, which is powered by its proprietary 3D Vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology. The SSD T1 was chosen as an honoree for the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show Innovation Awards.

The drive has sequential read/write speeds of up to 450 megabytes per second with a USB 3.0 super speed interface and random read/write speeds of up to 8,000 inputs/outputs per second (IOPS) and 21,000 IOPS, respectively. That qualifies as fast and then some. The write speed is up to 100 times faster than an external hard disk drive (HDD).

Depending on the file size, the Portable SSD T1 has a data transfer speed four times faster than an external HDD. According to Samsung,...

HP Unveils New Tablets and Convertibles for the Enterprise

Rather than reworking consumer devices for the workplace, Hewlett-Packard says it is taking a modular, purpose-built approach to developing technologies and services for mobile business. It unveiled eight new mobile devices Tuesday -- as well as an "ecosystem of accessories" and service partners -- aimed at helping enterprise users make the most of business on the go.

HP's new devices include two Android tablets equipped with digital pen technology, a Windows tablet, a Windows convertible and a heavy-duty tablet designed for manufacturing and fieldwork. Other technologies making their debut include a tablet designed especially for the healthcare market, Windows and Android tablets for the education market and a point-of-sale device for the retail market.

"Mobile devices are changing how we live and work, and they also pose significant challenges to IT departments who have to support their now-mobile workforces while keeping corporate data managed and secure," said Ron Coughlin, senior vice president and general manager of Personal Systems for HP. He added that, when combined with new solutions from HP's software partners, the new devices provide a way for businesses to "securely harness the promise of mobility."

According to HP, the new line of mobile devices is designed to support multiple operating systems to give business users "a choice of application ecosystems and user experiences."

The new Android HP Pro Slate 8 and HP Pro Slate 12 tablets, for example, offer HD displays, a body thickness of less than 8 millimeters (0.31 inch) and "business-day battery life. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processor, both tablets come with the HP Duet Pen digital pen technology, which works on both the tablet and on paper. The eight-inch HP Pro Slate 8 is also "one of the first tablets to market using Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Corning's toughest...
